Hitting the Books in Philly – Green Line

When it’s super rainy outside, there is nothing that I love more than curling up with a warm beverage and watching the world from a nice, dry spot.  Today, I decided to make my dry spot The Green Line Cafe in West Philly.

A little Sociolinguistics with a side of coffee.

There are several Green Lines throughout West Philly.  The one I picked to visit today is at 40th and Ludlow.  It was my first time coming here, and I have to say that I liked it a lot!  They have a strong sandwich collection and lots of coffee, so I was pretty happy.   I managed to wolf down a chicken caesar sandwich in no time flat.  Also, vegetarians and vegans – rejoice!  They have food options for you here.  I have friends who are vegetarian, so I know how difficult it can be to find a place that can be accommodating.  For the carnivores out there, they have options for you too.

I have been to one other Green Line (the one on Locust), and I have to say that the space here is much smaller than that.  But that’s what you get when you get closer to campus.  Nevertheless, I still really like it.

There is free WiFi at this location, which you think wouldn’t be a big deal but hear me out.  The location at 40th and Baltimore does not.  I appreciate that a lot because I feel like we are too often tied to our various electronic devices, but when I need to hammer out a paper and then upload it to Canvas, the lack of WiFi is more than a mild inconvenience (to say the least!)

I’m not quite sure how busy it gets here during peak hours.  Also, the rain has probably scared a few people off, but I have to say that you should check this place out if given the chance.
